Small Business Certifications

SBA 8(a)/SDB

The Metis Group is certified as a Small Disadvantaged Business (“SDB”).  Under this certification, government agencies may negotiate on a sole-source basis for services up to three million dollars ($3 million) per requirement. 

For large business contracts, under most federal procurements, at least five percent of contract dollars must be performed by a certified 8(a)/SDB firm.  The Metis Group is teamed with large business partners to meet and exceed these subcontracting goals.

The Metis Group has active 8(a) contracts with civil and defense agencies.  We will assist you with walking through the process with SBA. SDVOSB Joint Venture

The Metis Group is in a joint venture to operate as a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, and has been awarded contracts throughout the federal government, including GSA and VA.

Set-asides of three percent for SDVOSB entities are included in many large federal procurements and contracts.  Our joint venture is part of many teams and performs under the contracts.

Woman-Owned Business

As a 100 percent woman-owned business, The Metis Group meets this set-aside category for federal procurements.  In 2000, a set-aside of five percent was legislated for woman-owned businesses for all federal procurements.  This law has been upheld in the courts.
